Singer Lily Allen is suspected of smoking while giving a concert in Liverpool, and an investigation has sprung up to look into the matter.
Liverpool council decided to investigate the allegations that Lily Allen was seen smoking at the venue as according to reports in the BBC they received the information from a local newspaper who were covering the event for their paper.
A spokesman for the council says that if the ”Smile” singer is found to have been smoking, she will have violated the workplace legislation. Anyone who witnessed Allen smoking is being asked to contact the council.
If it is found that the singer was indeed smoking during the performance, both she and the venue can be fined. A spokesperson for Allen would not make a comment to the BBC concerning the event. This week Allen appeared at Elton John’s winter ball; John had requested that Allen design a bar for his AIDS charity. Her creation raised 100,000 for the Grey Goose & Cocktails seasonal fundraiser.
Contact Music quoted the singer describing her bar: ”I thought, it’s such a good idea, but what if you’re not a millionaire and don’t have that much space? They would look quite odd in my size living room. So I decided to make something compact.”
Lily Allen is used to causing controversy. She has recently claimed that illegal downloads are hurting the music industry and in particular is stifling musicians. Despite receiving criticism for her views from people like Radiohead and Pink Floyd she is undeterred that her stance is the correct one. Because of her wild reputation Lily Allen has also been the focus of a tabloid campaign trying to stop young women from drinking. Because of her disputes and problems this year Lily Allen has now confirmed that she will not be performing music for the next couple of years and will instead concentrate on acting.
